Any statement, which is based on facts, can be included in the category of journalism. Basically, journalism is associated with providing information to the masses. Journalism is that source of mass communication, which not only informs the citizens regarding various changes and happenings taking place around the globe, but also makes them recall certain historic incidents. People associated with this profession are known as Journalists. A newspaper is such a document, in which news is arranged in a specific chronological or any other sequential order.

Since the last one and a half centuries, journalism has flourished to the maximum, due to complete freedom, and unhindered growth. Nowadays however, the scope of journalism has expanded only from newspapers and magazines, to spreading over numerous different fields. This is why; this profession has been renamed as, "Mass Communication." Apart from writing, journalism also encompasses photography.

Education in journalism is imparted in all renowned universities of Pakistan, and according to a safe estimate, around 257 newspapers are published through out the country, whereas, there are approximately 2500 journalists working only in Sindh. If you are fond of writing, and you think that you have many ideas to express, then you should undeniably enter the field of journalism. This does not necessarily mean that one must acquire a degree in Mass Communication. However, the degree definitely provides with certain useful tools to polish one’s talent. Before getting a permanent employment in any newspaper or magazine, one must undertake an internship of at least 6 months. In this way one can also identify his preferred field of interest in this extensive profession. For instance, one may work as a copywriter, editor, reporter, columnist, or a feature writer. Besides, people can also specialize in writing for a specific area- business, fashion, sports etc. In the last decade, even electronic journalism has developed to a sufficient extent. Furthermore, one can also work as a freelance journalist. In order to become a successful journalist, it is mandatory that one is not only aware of the art of writing news, but is also acquainted with formulating their analysis, based on facts and figures. Moreover, it is important, that you should be loyal to this profession, because your writings/ pen possesses the qualities of changing the views of masses. Due to the publishing of fresh newspapers and magazines, employment and growth opportunities in this field have also increased. Now it depends on you, that after entering this field, you use your talent to educate masses, regarding the problems confronting the country.
