• Editorial Print Modeling: This modeling is done for the cover page of various magazines. This type of modeling is quite helpful for models in establishing their initial identity.

• Commercial Print Modeling: This is the most common category of modeling, which includes both print and electronic media like, billboards, catalogues, magazines, newspapers, TV commercials etc. Different products are introduced and promoted through modeling.

In order to enter the field of modeling, training is required and not qualification. In Pakistan, this training can be acquired from a few institutes, associated with fashion. The most important fact in initial stages of modeling is to get yourself noticed. For this, the first step is to make a portfolio. It is preferable to get your portfolio done by a fashion photographer, than an ordinary photographer. Normally, models are selected for fashion magazines, or print or electronic media, through these portfolios. One can also get his photograph placed on various websites on the internet. Models can work in all fields of fashion modeling like, fashion shows, TV commercials, advertising agencies etc. Apart from media, models can also work in other fields as well for instance, acting in various TV dramas, hosting different TV shows, modeling in music videos etc. Not only these but popular models are also hired by known companies in the departments of marketing or public relations.

Competition is quite high in this field. Modeling demands time and effort. At times models gain fame and popularity just from a shot for a fashion magazine, whereas, some models are not noticed even after spending many years in this field. Monetary returns are missing in initial stages of modeling. But after gaining fame, a model may earn from 10,000 to 100,000. Gradually, this profession is gaining momentum in our country as well. At present, approximately 20 fashion magazines are published in Pakistan. Besides, many ad agencies are also operating. Various fashion shows are organized by fashion designers and other personalities. Thus, models are frequently required in these categories. A healthy built, attractive personality and photogenic face are very important for modeling. Besides, determination, tolerance and self confidence are also required.
