Commissioned & Non-commissioned Officers
The defense of a country is essential for all land, air, and
water. On land and in water, army and naval forces defend the
borders of the country while the air defense is the
responsibility of air force. The Air Force of a country
monitors the air ways in peace and defends enemy air attacks
during war session. Pakistan Air Force is divided into
different branches including:
The highest rank of Pakistan Air force is
the “Chief of Air Staff.” According to PAF Head cotters, Air
force is divided into regional air command and each regional
head is known as “Air Officer Commanding.” Officers and
soldiers take their responsibilities as per rank and their
departments. Fair selection process and strict training make
an impressive impact on cadets.
SELECTION
Pakistan Air Force time to time announces openings through
newspaper for its different branches. There are two categories
of commissioned officers, i.e.

GD Pilots
-
Aeronautical Engineers
Intermediate with Pre-Engineering or
Computer Science with minimum 2nd division or “A” level is
essential; age limits from 16 to 22. Only Pakistani nationals
can join PAF. There are 18 selection centers across the
country. After the submission of application form applicant
has to pass physics, and mathematics test, IQ test, interview,
and medical checkup. After the successful completion of these
tests, applicant have to pass out inter services selection
board examination and different levels of medical checkup. The
successful candidate’s list are issued by PAF Head quarters.
These candidates are then sent to PAF academy Risalpur for
future studies and training. Others i.e. SPSSC (Special
Purpose Short Service Commission) SSC (Short Service
Commission) PC (Permanent Commission), eligibility and age
limits are according to the respected department which is
announced through advertisement in newspapers. |
