School Level Teaching

When did a human being, first acted in the capacity of a teacher? Probably, when the very first questioned was asked. Founders of the field of education were Prophets, therefore, this profession is considered noble. With the passage of time, apart from the propagation of religion, this profession has extended to many branches, and thus, there has also been an increase in the number of people, imparting knowledge. It is mandatory in developed countries that those engaged in the field of education, must acquire degree in the discipline of education as well, apart from their particular subject. But in our country, the picture is a bit different. An important field like education is considered a part time profession, and those practicing it, does not believe in taking any specific training. At present, in our country the statistics of teachers is as follows: In public schools, 480,730 teachers are imparting education, whereas, in private institutions 304168 teachers are engaged in disseminating knowledge. There are many institutions giving education or training to teachers in the country, and such institutions are around 112. By taking admissions in these institutions, teachers can take a step towards self-improvement. Even though education continues till university, but in this paper we shall discuss imparting knowledge, till metric or high school. There are three divisions in high school level teaching. One is Montessori level or pre primary, the second is primary level that is from class I to We, and the third is secondary level including class VI to X. To teach in a Montessori, one must acquire a diploma in this discipline. Though there are several institutions in the country, from where this diploma can be acquired, there are only two such institutes, whose diploma is recognized even outside the country. To teach in a primary school, one must be at least graduate. After this, one can clear the competitive examination, and get the post of a gazetted officer in a government school, or can also work with a private institute. Similarly, if you have done MA B. Ed, then after giving the examination of a public school, you may join as a 17-grade officer, or can also serve as a subject teacher, or a class teacher in a private institute.

In a school job, if you have chosen a government institution, then you can teach in a secondary school, after getting a 17 grade. In government service, apart from job security, there are several benefits as well, like pension, leaves to acquire further education, provident fund etc. But if you have prioritized employment in a private school, then salary structure is better, and you may get prospects of promotion sooner. While doing a job in a school, you can also work hard to improve your qualification. Mostly, training colleges offer courses during evening hours, for working teachers. If you are not able to take out time for acquiring a degree, several private institutes also provide you with the option of short courses. Most of the people and specifically females enter this field mainly, because they think that it is a good pass time activity. But this pass time activity is also ideal for making a career. In any other field, one does not get two and a half months leaves annually, an employment for just half a day, and sufficient time during evening hours for other hobbies and leisure time activities. Moreover, salaries are equivalent to those, in full time jobs. Due to these reasons, if you think that like an artist, you have the capabilities to turn wet sand into a sculpture, then you may adopt this profession. This profession will not only make you start your day with smiling faces and will help you maintain the natural curiosity within yourself, but will also provide you with an opportunity to brighten your future with these inquisitive minds.

In view of the increasing population in the country, the government also firmly aims to give the field of education, its most deserving place in the society. Several schools will be established in the next five years, and to fill this gap, there will be a need for such individuals who do not only excel in their subjects, but also hold degrees in the discipline of education.
