Civil engineers employ natural resources to construct various useful structures, which can be beneficial for people, living in any society. Main functions of civil engineers include, preparing blue prints, planning, construction, and maintenance of buildings. Previously, constructional engineering was mainly associated with constructing bridges for military purposes. However, with the passage of time, this body of science and art proved beneficial also for common man, and thus, this branch of engineering came to be known as Civil Engineering at the conclusion of the 18th century, having an entirely separate identity from military engineering. Civil engineering can be divided into various categories,
